Chatham Square Neighborhood

A Diverse Fair Haven Community with Historic Homes and a Beautiful Waterfront

Hi Friends, Just got off the phone with Melanie who is organizing the tutoring program at Quinnipiac Terrace. The notice is going to parents today to ask them what support their kids need. So far we know of a ninth grader that is failing math and some younger kids that need help with math and reading. I understand division is a problem for some kids. The days we are set up to tudor are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 3-5. If you are interested let me know the day that you can commit to. I think it is important that we are consistent with our presence. You need to be flexible because we are going to be creative in developing this program and we are going to see where this goes. The kids will be expected to do one hour of home work with us and then they can use the computor lab. Melanie is calling it a homework party. Let me know if you are interested or have friends that are and when you would like to do it. I will meet next Wednesday with Melanie to go over the parent requests and we will start probably on Thursday. Thanks for your support, Mary Ann

Do they have an expected age range of students? If there is a number of middle school students, I and/or my leaders might be interested.
I know there will be some middle range kids but I'm not sure how many. I will find out this week and let you know. What age range are you interested in. I know for sure there is a 9th grader that needs help in Math. Thanks Mary Ann
I am on for Wednesday.
Hi Eric, got your message, so Wednesday is the day you want to commit to ? Is there any particular age group and are you good in math, many of the kids seem to need help with that? I'm going to meet with Melanie this week and go over the parent responses, then I will let you know who the kids are. Thanks so much Mary Ann
5th grade and up. For now, our primary focus is 5th-8th grade. We do not have enough leaders yet to expand to high school kids. But I might be available, especially since it's math and that's what I used to teach...
Catherine I think that is the age range of many of the kids but I will let you know after I meet with Melodie thius week. Thanks Mary Ann
