Fair Haven is a Diverse Community with a Rich History and a Beautiful Waterfront
Individuals and families earning less than $54,000 a year are eligible for free tax preparation at over a dozen sites in New Haven...spread the word! Free VITA sites save filers an average of $200 and encourage people who don't think they need to file to see if they are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit.
Regrettably, the Fair Haven site at the Columbus Academy on Blatchley isn't operating, but there are many others (I volunteer at the Emanuel Luthern site in East Rock, Sundays from 12-4). I'll update this post if a Fair Haven site opens.
I'm attaching VITA-Brochure-2017.pdf that has the sites, hours, and the paperwork you need to bring to file. For more information, visit https://uwgnh.org/financial_programs/volunteer-income-tax-assistance/
This is made possible through the IRS, the Connecticut Association for Human Services, and the United Way of Greater New Haven. Of course, it's also all done by local volunteers, who get free online training from the IRS. If you have questions about volunteering, please contact me or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Happy tax season!
