Fair Haven is a Diverse Community with a Rich History and a Beautiful Waterfront

Think what we do has no impact on how our neighborhood is viewed by people who don't live here, think again...

As an outsider, and volunteer participant in the 2012 Riverfest I can only report excitement at the direction of this initiative. In a time when individuals and families seem to be drawing inward in fear of constant social unrest, here is a group of neighbors actively engaged in community building, both physical and social. The results are evident. This is real community revitalization, as opposed to expensive, top down,  politically mandated reform. This can do nothing but improve the New Haven area.

Of Interest,  I just hosted Vivian Nabeta, Director of City of New Haven - Arts, Culture and Tourism for a tour of Mary Wade.  We had a great lunch at the Boat House Café and then went on a car tour of Fair Haven --- basically the similar route that Lee takes for walking tours.  Vivian made comments about the neighborhood as David James made in his observations.  Rufina and I spoke to Vivian about the various activities in Fair Haven, the RiverFest, Parade, Chatham Park Festival and 'Soup Night'.  She also commented that she now knows she has a get away lunch spot on the Water!
