Fair Haven is a Diverse Community with a Rich History and a Beautiful Waterfront

The Economic & Community Development group met on Monday, Mar. 26, 2018, from 6 – 7 pm at 315 Front Street. Present: Christel, Lisa, Natalie Coe, Lee, plus Allen Appel from the Independent.

Riverfest planning continues. Lee has raised $3300 in pledged donations for CSNA; roughly half of that can be budgeted for Riverfest. Natalie Coe completed application for funds from Community Foundation. Christel reported Four Barrel Billy band is willing to do 2 sets. Still need to negotiate fee. Lee provided contact info for Music Haven. Christel will invite them to have kids appear as special guest (around 1 pm, in between 2 band sets). Lee confirmed that Tai Chi people will do a 20 minute demo (to be scheduled after drummers and before band).

Strong School update. CSNA had community meeting in February at Riverrun to report on current status of school (most recent development proposal was rejected) and to get input from local residents what the criteria should be for a new RFP. A formal Community Planning Process is scheduled for April 22, where residents can express their vision for the school and surrounding area.

The March dining out night at El Coqui was well attended, and the owners have since then pledged support for CSNA. April will be Soup Night, and Natalie proposed having it at Wacoma; she will confirm if this is possible for 4/28 or 29.

Throughout the meeting Allen asked questions about various other CSNA activities and the neighborhood in general; you can read about it in the Independent.
