EVENT is a go despite spotty weather forecast (as of right now chance of rain is less than 50%!) Please dress warmly!
With the Grand Avenue Bridge slated for renovation beginning in the spring, the City of New Haven and neighborhood partners will hold a FREE community celebration ON THE BRIDGE on Friday, March 6 from 5-8 pm.
HERE IS THE LATEST ACTIVITY LIST:Alexis Robbins, Isabella Mendes Lira and Thabisa Rich will be performing at ~6pm with their bands and then doing a collaborative performance!
In addition to these fabulous artists, local non-profits and U.S. Census Bureau will be on hand and there will be lots of other activities incl. but not limited to:
Wine-tasting with Grand Vin; Food Trucks (The Caseus Cheese Truck & Vegan Ahava LLC); Commencement of Ranked Choice Voting on bridge color (to last throughout month of March); fire pits with roasted marshmallows with Chris Ozyck; Bridge history mini-tours with Lee Cruz, a Fair Haven "memory wall" with Elihu Rubin and Yale School of Architecture students; an informal run/walk with David Weinreb of the Quinnipiac River Trail Loop that serves as the alternate route during bridge closure; FH vs FH Heights Tug O' War on the Bridge; New Haven Parks, Recreation & Trees will be there in full force with its climbing wall and adult tricycle races; NHFPL will provide the Bookmobile; Copps Island Oysters will be handing out free oysters, as well as other fun activities for the whole family. Make sure to RSVP to the event if possible and let us know if questions!
City officials (hopefully Mayor Elicker) and community leaders will be in attendance. All are welcome!

Thank you to everyone from the FH and FH Heights Community who participated in or attended the Celebration Friday esp. those from the neighborhood who volunteered their time to make the event so special (looking at you @LeeCruz, @ChrisOzyck, @DavidWeinreb, @PatricaKane and many others. We look forward to working with many of you during the bridge renovation and beyond. Ideas for other community-building activities we can hold during the renovation are welcomed. Talk soon!
