DESCRIPTION:The Haven String Quartet is joined by Music Haven Resident
  Musician Patrick Doane and pianist Andrius Žlabys in the first Chamb
 er Series Concert of 2023 with a beautiful and evocative program featu
 ring Gabriel Fauré’s Piano Quintet No. 1 in D Minor, Op. 89, George
  Walker’s Lyric for Strings, and Sergei Prokofiev’s Violin Sonata 
 No. 1, Op. 80. Join us as we explore these three magnificent pieces of
  music, from Prokofiev’s dark and brooding Violin Sonata No. 1 to Fa
 uré’s Piano Quintet, a work filled with mesmerizing and haunting wr
 iting for both strings and piano. Finally, George Walker, the first Af
 rican American to win the Pulitzer Prize for composition, dedicates hi
 s breathtaking Lyric for Strings to his grandmother, a formerly enslav
 ed person, who died shortly before its completion.\nAll HSQ ticket sal
