SUMMARY:Introduction to Induction Forging
DESCRIPTION:Induction heating is a non-contact process which uses the
  principle of electromagnetic induction to produce heat in a workpie
 ce. By placing a conductive material into a strong alternating magnet
 ic field, electric current is made to flow in the material, thereby ca
 using Joule heating. In magnetic materials, further heat is generated
  below the Curie point due to hysteresis losses.

Using the in
 duction forge, basic hammer techniques, and hand tools, students will 
 cut, twist, taper, bend and smash steel into either a wizard wand or a
  BBQ fork of their own design. Materials and images for reference will
  be provided. The class is limited to 4, no experience needed. \nMust
  Bring\nClosed toe shoes (they will get sparks and metal flakes on it
 )
\nLong Pants (Not synthetics, they will melt, Jeans or working pan
 ts are great, just nothing tight fitting against the legs. )
\nShirt
  (again no synthetics, you will want something breathable though. It 
 gets warm working the knives)
