A free, informational gathering at MakeHaven for knowledge sharing and networking among boating enthusiasts and makers in the New Haven area. Includes ropework for Boaters, Campers, Climbers and Sailors. This event welcomes all boaters.
Join us at MakeHaven for a hands-on meetup focused on boat projects, repairs, and practical skills.
This informal, free event welcomes anyone interested in sailing, paddling, rowing, or just making things for life on the water.
What to Expect:
Waterjet Demo: Watch our dramatic high-pressure cutter in action—cutting real boat parts!
Knot Work & Soft Shackles: Learn practical ropework and see how to make strong, textile-based soft shackles.
Canvas Repair Examples: See what’s possible with our industrial sewing machines—like repairing dodgers, Biminis, and sails.
Wood & Fiberglass Builds: Hear how one member rebuilt a rudder with MakeHaven tools and techniques.
Tool Tour for Boaters: Explore key resources like:
Sailrite Fabricator (sails, covers, upholstery)
Full woodworking shop
Welding tools (TIG, MIG, oxy-acetylene)
Waterjet cutter for precision parts
Project Show & Tell: Bring photos or examples of your boat-related projects—whether built here or elsewhere.
Connect with Others: Share knowledge, ask questions, and network with other boaters, tinkerers, and fixers.
