DESCRIPTION:Hands on learning of the fundamentals of safe and practica
 l use of a Metal Lathe. Students who successfully compete this class w
 ill earn the Metal Lathe badge, allowing ongoing use for members. No p
 revious experience required.\nThe Learning Objectives are as follows:\
 nIdentify the locations and function of the milling machine's E-stop\
 nIdentify and demonstrate proper use of Personal Protective Equipment 
 (PPE)\nExplain and Identify Lock Out-Tag Out procedure and guidelines 
 for the milling machine\nList/adhere to all shop/lab safety rules esta
 blished by Make Haven\nIdentify the location and function of the compo
 nents on the lathe\nDemonstrate safe insertion and removal of cutting 
 tools\nDemonstrate adequate chucking procedure of work-piece\nDemonstr
 ate proper start up and speed selection sequence for both lathes\nIden
 tify and confirm proper spindle rotation for intended cutting tool\nId
 entify and explain the function of machines preventative maintenance (
 TPM) requirements\nDemonstrate the accurate and safe indicating of the
  machines chuck\nDemonstrate proper care and use of precision measurin
 g tools (dial indicator, micrometer, dial caliper)\nReference the Mach
 inists Handbook for proper tool selection / cutting speeds and feeds.\
 nProduce an effective High Speed Steel Turning Tool on the Pedestal Gr
