Join filmmaker Steve Hamm as we screen his documentary The Village. Learn how Italians came to New Haven and built a strong community in the Elm City—retaining some of their old values while embracing what it means to become Americans. The film captures the history and culture of the immigrant community as they settled in Wooster Square —and recounts how highway construction and “urban renewal” ended up tearing a tight-knit neighborhood. The film is 60 minutes. Afterward stay for refreshments and a discussion about immigration today and yesterday.
