 ound March 10-23? Do you want to get involved with a hands-on project 
 that helps bring a new public space and environmental education experi
 ence to one of our city’s most vibrant communities?\n\nCome work wit
 h community members and students from the Yale schools of Architecture
 , Forestry, and others to construct a parklet (a mini-park designed to
  fit on two parking spots) on Grand Avenue in Fair Haven! A gateway to
  deeper experiences with urban nature,  The Urban Canopy Parklet, win
 ner of the 2017 New Haven Parklet competition, abstracts the shapes of
  New Haven's most prominent tree species into beautiful canopies built
  with recycled wood of former street trees, with signage in English an
 d Spanish. Once complete, the parklet will be hosting weekend workshop
 s and school visits that teach residents about urban ecology.\n\nWe wi
 ll need all the help we can get with various tasks: preparing and plan
 ing the wood, drilling and screwing to assemble the wood framing, carr
 ying and transporting building supplies, and putting together planters
 .\n\nConstruction will occur every day March 10-23, in the Fair Haven 
 area of New Haven. We will probably have evening shifts for those who 
 want to volunteer but have daytime commitments.\n\nWhether you are a w
 oodworking pro or someone who wants to lend a free afternoon or a car,
