Weave Got Maille: Intro to Scalemail

Scalemail, a type of armor or decorative accessory composed of interlocking metal scales, is frequently featured in both history and fantasy. Have you ever wanted to make one of your own? Now you can! In this 3-hour class you'll learn the fundamental techniques and skills required to create stunning scalemail pieces that showcase both artistry and functionality. The class will cover how to weave scalemail in two styles: Linear and Traditional, working with different sizes of scales, how to edge the scales for stability, and how to design scalemail patterns. Class projects will include a liner scale keychain and a traditional scale patch that can be extended into a variety of projects. 
Prerequisite: Chainmail Basics or equivalent experience.
If you usually require magnification during your work, please bring your equipment as we are working with small rings. All materials are provided but if you have your own jewelry pliers, you are welcome to bring them. To avoid hand fatigue, I highly recommend the below plier set. They will last through all levels of chainmaille projects.
