Creating Safer and Kinder District to Grow Old
I read the attached NY Times article and thought of the CSNA's efforts to reduce the speed of traffic in Fair Haven. We have numerous senior housing complexes in Fair Haven alone, Ruoppolo, FairBanks, RiverRun, and Saltonstall, in addtion to Mary Wade. Some of the planning ideas and programs could be expanded on here in New Haven and have the net effect of reducing traffic speed, in addition to other benefits.

A very interesting article David. I think that there is a process of redefining "being old" meaning. The new "old" people (at least from my limited experience) don't want to live in ghettos. I had a sense that the older New Yorkers want to stay where they are - in the City , and they will execute their economical and voting power to get what they want. New Haven and Fair Haven could benefit from the NYC experience.
