Fair Haven is a Diverse Community with a Rich History and a Beautiful Waterfront
Canning is a lifelong skill that can help you maximize your intake of yummy local produce! This Thursday at CitySeed's Fair Haven Farmers' Market, community member Ruziye Yeroz will teach us how to pickle and can farm fresh cucumbers and carrots. Ruziye's delicious, healthful recipe employs lacto-fermentation, a simple food preservation process that has been used for ages. The demonstration starts at 4 pm!
CitySeed is proud to be one of 50 Farmers Market Coalition member markets across the US selected to share the benefits of home canning with members of their community through the Discover You Can Program. Throughout the summer, we'll be running canning demos at our markets and providing coupons and samples to help everyone get started turning fresh, locally grown favorites into delicious food in a jar for enjoyment all year long!
The Fair Haven Farmers' Market runs every Thursday, 3pm - 7pm, in the Quinnipiac River Park, on the corner of Grand Avenue and Front Street. Visit www.cityseed.org for a complete market schedule.
