Fair Haven is a Diverse Community with a Rich History and a Beautiful Waterfront
In this hands-on workshop, you will create your own agar art using live microbes. Participants will create agar art by painting with microbes and learn how to use traditional biology lab techniques with artistic tools. Before the experience you watch a video giving basic instruction of how to use the tools.
You will be assigned to one of four a half hour “painting” sessions (on 23rd) to come and paint (sessions scheduled to limit participant occupancy).
Experienced scientists will instruct you on techniques and teach you about the genetic engineering used to modify bacteria colors during your session.
Each participant will have the opportunity to create two designs which will be left at MakeHaven to incubate for 3 days.
After incubation, participants will join an online session (March 2nd @ 6pm) to observe and share the now visible bacterial paintings.
