Fair Haven Neighborhood Clean-Up at 167 Grafton Street #1

December 4, 2010 from 11am to 3pm
Come and join college students from the University of Connecticut as we clean-up and care for Fair Haven. Today we will focus our energy on cleaning up the entrances of Fair Haven, removing debris, picking-up the leaves (for composting), picking-up trash and ensuring the grass it cut before the snow of winter sets in. We would love additional help - if your up for it we have an assignment for you! Together we can make a difference in this urban neighborhood...Sponsored by Compassion CorpsSee More

Feeding Fair Haven Families for Christmas

Christmas is the time of year when we are all preparing for the BIG day. After Thanksgiving many of us are busy decorating our homes, lighting the tree, shopping for presents and attending those wonderful holiday parties. This is truly a season for CELEBRATION. The advent is here! While we are enjoying ourselves there are many who are struggling, not with gifts, but with their ability to put staple food products on the dinner table each night. Compassion Corps is challenging our friends to…See More

Poverty vs. Politics

Last year New Haven needed $250K to operate its emergency shelter for the poor. NO MONEY - because of the recession. Total CT political spending in 2010 to date: $27million - just for this election cycle. Where are our priorities? Recession - just an excuse!http://www.yaledailynews.com/news/2009/oct/16/in-recession-shelters-short-on-space-funding/See More
