Day of the Dead altars are made as a way of remembering and honoring deceased friends and family. The altars help guide the spirits back to the land of the living on the Noche de Muertos on the night of November 2.
The altar of the dead is a fundamental element in the celebration of the Day of the Dead. The bereaved believe that the spirit of their deceased returns from the world of the dead to live with the family that day, and thus console and comfort them for the loss.
Participants will make an ofrenda (altar) for a deceased loved one while learning about the holiday and traditions surrounding it.
No experience necessary. Participants should bring a small (no larger than 3"x3") photo of their person. All materials will be provided.
Instructor: Sarahi Zacatelco
Tickets: $25
Creative Arts Workshop Members: $23
