Drink, eat, and tour: Grand Avenue Gastronomy Tour!
This tour will be at a leisurely pace and end at the Fair Haven Pop-up Arts & Ideas Festival http://artidea.org/fairhaven. It is part of an ongoing effort to raise awareness of the cultural and culinary diversity of Grand Avenue. Sample great pizza and taste cuisine from Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico and more from our local restaurants. Along the way, learn the history of New Haven's most eclectic and ethnically-diverse neighborhood.
This tour designed with families in mind. Due to the amount of walking, it's recommended for kids 10 and up. We will be walking on a major arterial street with vehicle and bicycle traffic. Carried babies are also welcome and there is no charge for those not eating at participating restaurants.
The tour is led by local community leader and parent Lee Cruz, a Fair Haven resident who has been providing neighborhood tours for over 15 years. A previous tour participant said: "great food, great local history, and insider knowledge of the neighborhood." Come alone or invite a friend!
