Event Description
In July, Elon Musk's Open AI initiative released an API to access a new unsupervised natural language model called GPT-3. Remarkably, it contains 175 billion parameters and was trained on massive amounts of text from the Internet. By predicting what text can appropriately supplement a given prompt, it can generate coherent natural text responses on endless topics.
In this talk, we will introduce the API and discuss its potential for creative use by makers. We will also have some fun and create some stories and examples together.
If people want to experiment with the model beforehand, they can apply, and wait, for access at openai.com or experiment through the app, AI Dungeon, that has incorporated GPT-3 if you switch to its Dragon Mode.

Todd Fine is a PhD student in History who likes to tinker with microcontrollers, audio synthesis, virtual environments in Unity3d, and web development.
