The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs are programs that encourage small businesses to win Federal Research and Development grant on ideas that have potential for commercialization. These grants are targeted through a competitive awards-based program. SBIR and STTR enable small businesses to explore their technological potential and provide the incentive to profit from its commercialization, often awarding $100,000 and above for project research aligned to government objectives.
This session will be a very high level overview relevant to someone interested in learning if their research interests would be candidates for these awards. Those that believe they may qualify will have an opportunity to receive individualized advice in a future session.
This session will be in person.
Sessions agenda:
1. Introductions (10 minutes)
2. Overview of programs (20 minutes)
3. Q&A about programs and process (20 Minutes)
About the presenter: Michael A. Invernale, PhD, an entrepreneur and SBIR/STTR expert, will hold monthly office hours to advise small businesses and entrepreneurs seeking SBIR/STTR
resources, training and assistance. This is a complimentary service, sponsored by CTNext, an organization that develops programs and funding to help businesses grow in Connecticut.
