Park Beautification: Lewis Street Park and Beyond!

Remember when there was snow everywhere? Let's take advantage of our short window of wonderful warm weather to support our neighborhood!

Please join us for a weekly opportunity to build community while supporting a healthy and vibrant neighborhood! Every Wednesday from 5:30pm - 7:30pm we'll gather at Lewis Street Park to work on projects to create a more beautiful and valuable space. During our first meeting of the season on Wednesday, June 19th we'll discuss the full scope of projects in the neighborhood, not just limited to Lewis Street Park. Don't be shy! If you can only make one day, that's fine! If you just want to hang out and support folks working, that's fine too!

This effort is supported by Urban Resources Initiative (URI), whose mission is to foster community-based land stewardship, promote environmental education, advance the practice of urban forestry, and provide Yale students with clinical learning opportunities.

Specifically, we'll be working with an intern from URI's Community Greenspace program, which provides material supplies, technical advice, and classroom-based and hands-on training to support resident-driven community greening projects. Since 1995, Greenspace has completed more than 310 diverse urban restoration projects with an annual participation of about 1,000 New Haven residents.
