Fair Haven is a Diverse Community with a Rich History and a Beautiful Waterfront
Hi Everyone!
Anyone interested in helping me organize an event?
I wanted to create a free, family-friendly, annual event that focuses on celebrating our Fair Haven community, promoting peace and camaraderie and in particular, celebrating the riverfront i.e The Quinnipiac River by asking residents to place just one piece of light (luminary or lantern) on the ground, by the river for one night. Or, maybe placing just one piece of such light outside their homes for one night.
I reached out via email to cultural affairs of the City of New Haven, but have not heard back yet. I don't know if an event like this would need permission and not sure if it might raise some public safety concerns....
I thought we could do this once a year soon - maybe in Fall or Spring or more times a year if it's possible. I imagine we could call the event - "Festival of Lights at The Q", or, "Light up The Q" or "Fair Haven Lights" or something similar.
I can create fliers if needed, but I would need volunteers to help me spread the word and if there is any info on what the City requires in order to carry out something like this.
Thank you in advance!!
