Fair Haven is a Diverse Community with a Rich History and a Beautiful Waterfront

CSNA Economic Development Group, Minutes

The group met on Monday, April 8, 2013, from 6-7:30 pm at 333 Front Street. Present: Pat & Brett Bissell, Joyce & Bill Alton, Lisa Fitch, Christel Manning, Beth Corcoran, Don Harvey, Thomas Burwell.

Items discussed:

  1. Riverfest on May 5:  This was final planning meeting for this event. Lisa reported that WTNH will be featuring the event on their Style show. Don and Carlos created a beautiful poster which they presented for discussion. We decided to add a rain date (May 19 to coincide with the May 18 rain date set for Fair Haven Family Stroll) and to create a two sided poster that has the text in Spanish on the back. The poster will be ready by April 22 and can be picked up at Christel’s house (333 Front St.). It will be distributed as follows: Grand Avenue (Front Street to James Street) by Thomas; Orange Street and Worcester Square by Brett and Pat; Ninth Square by Beth; some of the public schools by Joyce; State Street by Christel.
  2. Strong School: Several representatives from the city (including Kelly Murphy for Economic Development and  Vivian Nebate for the Arts) will be meeting with representatives of the Strong School committee (including Don Harvey, Fernando Pastor) some time next week to discuss the project.
  3. April Soup Night: Joyce and Bill will host on Sunday, April 21, 6-8 pm at their house, 15 Lombard. Joyce will make the meat soup; Pat volunteered to bring a veg soup.
  4. May Dining Out Night: We’re thinking about the new place on Ferry Street called “Iguana Burrito.”  They are not open yet, so we will revisit this at our May meeting.
  5. Chatham Square postcard project: this is on hold until after Riverfest is over.
