Minutes June 2013 meeting

The group met on Monday, June 10, 2013, from 6-7:30 pm at 333 Front Street. Present: Lee, Kevin (from AMR), Thomas, Christel. 

Items discussed:

1. Improving Middletown entrance to Clinton Ave: Kevin (from American Medical Response) said his company is willing to contribute to maintaining the area. There is lots of trash, grass that isn’t mowed regularly, and there’s  a parking lot used by the Housing Authority that is not well kept. He got some initial quotes that were fairly high ($100 for initial cleanup and then $57 per week for maintenance); unlikely that AMR would want to spend that much. We discussed ways to bring down the cost, such as the community doing the initial cleanup, and then annual cleanups after that. Also, planting things other than grass that don’t need constant mowing. Lee will talk to Chris Ozyck about this.
2. Soup Night: Sunday, June 30^th at Ann Gallant’s house. Nathalie is co-hosting.
3. Dining Out Night: next one is in July, we’ll go to Boat House (in September we will go to Grand Apizza).
4. Exchange Street Block Party: Saturday, June 22, noon – 6 pm (behind Fair Haven school).
5. Strong School: The project keeps moving forward. The city is on board; we are working out the details of an agreement.
