The Sustainable Farm School’s mission is to help students and families of all backgrounds develop a deeper understanding of and practices for sustainable living through natural curiosity, rigorous academics, and critical thinking in real-world contexts. Our school takes a unique approach because we focus on teaching children to learn independently, to be self-sufficient, and to collaborate with people of all ages and levels of ability. We believe this will prepare students for their futures as creative, effective, democratic, and sustainably-minded community members.

Sustainable Farm School's After School Program at the Fair Haven Farmacy 

The Sustainable Farm School After School Program in Fair Haven is based on the Permaculture ethics of Earth Care, People Care, and Fair Share. Together we will learn to create an urban edible ecosystem in our own backyard using Permaculture and organic gardening principles. We will grow healing & culinary herbs, vegetables, edible flowers, and specialty crops. We’ll learn to harvest our own rainwater, make our own compost, preserve our own foods and so much more. Join us for an outdoor holistic learning experience for children ages 10 to 18. The program meets on Wednesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
