Restoration Complete at 13 Lewis

Thanks to the work of many local craftspeople and my partner Nancy's ruthless attention to detail, the restoration of the 1876 oysterman's house at the top of Lewis Street Park is nearly complete. Here are links to photos of 13 Lewis from street, the Kitchen, and the view from the rear porch. The house received its certificate of occupancy last week and we're awaiting the results of our final energy audit. We received a preliminary Home Energy Rating Score of 44; that means the house will consume less than 1/2 the energy of a newly built house of the same size built to code, and about 1/4 what it would have consumed prior to renovations. We plan to guarantee it won't cost more than somewhere around $600 per year for heat and hot water at current natural gas prices. The house is 1500 sq. ft, has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, living room, kitchen dining room, kitchen and a ground floor family room and mud room with kitchen hookup and bath that could be converted to a rental studio apartment.
