Fair Haven is a Diverse Community with a Rich History and a Beautiful Waterfront
The Economic & Community Development group met on Monday, Jan. 22, 2018, from 6 – 7:15 pm at 315 Front Street. Present: Christel, Lisa, Richard, Brenda, Lee.
The main agenda item was Riverfest. Christel confirmed with QRWA (the canoe people) that our proposed date (May 19) works for them, but they cannot do our raindate (May 20). We will live with that. We discussed bands. Rich will not be there, so we need to get a sound system. He said Four Barrell Billy would be willing to set theirs up and keep it there for other bands to use, if we paid them a little extra. We also need to figure out how to set up stage and dance floor. We may be able to rent stage but we can’t rent dance floor because area isn’t level. If we get materials from Bregamos, Lee can raise funds to pay people for physical labor, but we need somebody to give them instructions. Once we have confirmation on dance floor, Rich can ask Sweet Sixteen Dancers if they want to come back. Christel will call Raphael and ask about drummers and do they want to do set up if we pay them. Still unclear on bands, everybody liked FBB, and we’d like to have a second band. Santiago is too expensive, Kevin did not come through, Good Night Blue Moon is another option. Christel will contact them. Sheila Hutchings (Christel’s daughter) will organize kids activities. We would also like more vendors this year. Christel will ask Kathleen to see if Sound School will come back. We need to get the word out that vendors of arts and crafts can set up their own tables if they make small donation to CSNA. Lisa will check with Boat House Café about doing pizza and having people order it form restaurant, rather than having food tent outside. Lee will do fund raising; major budget items are: bands and event insurance.
