Meeting minutes: June 2019

The Economic & Community Development group met on Monday, May 13, 2019, from 6 – 7 pm at Quinnipiac Marina, 315 Front Street. Present: David, Christel, Kirk, Lisa, Natalie, Lee.

 

Riverfest debrief. Everybody was really pleased with how the festival went this year. The weather cooperated and we had great turnout, probably 500 people over the course of the day. This was first year we had lots of vendors and it was a great addition! Margaret did a fabulous job keeping track of them all. Everybody loved East Rock Brewery, Good Night Blue Moon, the Music Haven kids, the Tai Chi lady (and Rosa DeLauro’s dancing). Lots of folks (at least 65 midway through) went out on the water with Central CT River Advocates. Some things to improve for next year. Boat House Café did not come through with extra wait staff as promised, and there were long lines for food. There was some misunderstanding regarding whose kayaks/canoes would be used. Vendor criteria and form can be streamlined. Thanks to all who worked hard to make this a success.

 

Mary Wade Home expansion. David announced plans to meet with local businesses, perhaps for lunch, to discuss how MWH expansion may impact them. CSNA will be helping with this.
