Fair Haven is a Diverse Community with a Rich History and a Beautiful Waterfront
The Economic & Community Development group met on Monday, Nov.18, 2019, from 6 – 7 pm at Quinnipiac Marina, 315 Front Street. Present: Christel, David H., Lee, Lisa, Kirk
RIVERFEST: Erik (GNBM) is asking $1000 to do performance plus sound managing; we are ok with that. Mendoza family will do a concert for $150 or $200. Also, the NH Arts & Ideas Fair Haven pop up festival has been getting no support from Management Team this year; they may want to work with us instead; Lee will follow up.
BANNER PROPOSAL: Joann (Lots of Fish) can do 2 banners and organize entire event plus supplies for $1000; she will send link to city website that lists rules and costs for hanging banners across a city street; to affix banner to a fence we just need city to say ok, can contact Alder Anna Festa for that; we set event date for April 4 (rain date April 5); Christel will do a write up to post on CSNA to save the date; Lee will reach out to local schools to send kids to event.
GARDEN SIGNAGE: We discussed example of current signage at Lewis street park, how writing is too small, hard to read; we reviewed new quote from Fast Signs for a simpler, less busy design; we all liked this. We also considered removing language pertaining to gardens and instead buying a more generic sign that could be usable for many different type of projects. Christel will play around with new language and email to all. Current quote from Fast Signs is $280 for 10 metal signs which seems fair; we just need to raise the funds.
DINING OUT AND SOUP NIGHTS: Both will be in December because of Thanksgiving being late. Dining out night will be Dec. 10 at J&J on Grand Avenue; instead of soup night we have the annual holiday potluck at Mary Wade Home on Dec. 18.
