Chatham Square Association

Fair Haven is a Diverse Community with a Rich History and a Beautiful Waterfront

The Economic Development group met on Monday, Dec.9, 2013, from 6 – 7 pm at 333 Front Street. Present: Christel, Lee, Ihssane, Faris, Pat Bissel. Clymenza.

Items discussed:

  1. Planning for Riverfest 2014. The riverfest website is now live; Christel will link it up to CSNA and post some info from last year’s press release. We discussed various options for a second music band: Mr. Anastasio has a connection to a band; Carlos will get more info on what type of music it is. Ihssan has a connection to a blues band, which we can contact if we don’t like Mr. A’s band. We brainstormed ideas for children’s activities: The Hispanic Health Council in Hartford does a puppet show; need to follow up on their availability. CJ May does a story teller/magician gig; Lee will find out about cost. Ihssan has materials for a crafts table, and Christel’s daughter Sheila could help little kids make things. Clymenza will run a face painting table.
  2. Dining Out Night: Our December event at Madden’s Gastropub drew more than 30 people, the biggest crowd ever!  Next time will be in February . . . we are thinking about going back to La Molienda.
  3. Next Soup Night: This may need to happen earlier than usual because of MLK weekend and the CSNA planning retreat which fall on the last two weekends of January. So the Sunday before that would be January 12. We have two possible hosts, Debra (in FH Heights) or Nathalie. Christel will follow up.

There was a meeting of the Strong School Redevelopment Committee immediately following the Economic Development group. Please see the Strong School link on this website for more information on that issue.
