~ CARE Launches the New Haven Health Survey ~ Spread the Word!     Do you live in one of these six neighborhoods:  Dixwell, Dwight/West River, Fair Haven, Hill North, Newhallville, or West Rock?   You may be asked to take the New Haven Health survey!     When you hear us knock,  please open the door to make your voice heard!   Throughout September and October, outreach workers will knock on doors to ask residents to take a health survey. Participants will answer questions about their health, diet, exercise, tobacco use, social support, and safety in our communities. 1200 residents took similar surveys in 2009 and 2012. All participants will be given a gift cards to a local grocery store ($10) and entry into a raffle for a $500 grand prize.*    Knowledge is Power!    The more residents we hear from, the better we can understand New Haven's health and develop solutions. Results will be shared immediately with community leaders and residents. This project will provide new information to advocate for a healthier New Haven and create programs and policies to benefit all residents. Results from the 2009 and 2012 surveys helped guide residents and community partners to build more community gardens, start exercise programs, and create urban walking trails.    For more information, please contact Alycia Santilli at [e-mail].   *There is a 1/1400 chance of winning.
