Meeting Minutes

1. Welcome & Introductions

2. 2013 Retreat Report & Feedback

  • United Way was a great location
  • Group was diverse
  • Relationship building was good
  • It would have been nice to have a few more people

 

3. Work Group Updates

A. Family & Youth Working Group – facilitators Mary Ann and Sally

Meets as needed. To be informed of meeting dates, join the Family & Youth Group on CSNA site.

1. Q Terrace Tutoring (Wed, Thurs & Fri 3-5p, through June)

  • Current volunteers: Helena, Zach, George, Mary Ann, Sally
  • Can always use more volunteers
  • Averaging 20 children per session, ages 3-14

2. Clinton Avenue School Garden (starting in March)

  • Current volunteers: Melissa, Mary Ann, Sally, Ms. Pat, Ms. Elsie
  • Can use more volunteers
  • Adding more garden beds and benches with a $5000 grant in collaboration with Common Ground High School

3. Easter Egg Hunt 3/30, 1-3p

  • Organizers: Mary Ann, Sally; looking for volunteers

4. Art in the Park, one Saturday in June, one Saturday in July 1-3p

  • Organizers: Sally, Mary Ann
  • Look for dates on events page

5. Halloween Party 10/26, 1-3p

  • Organizers: Mary Ann, Sally; looking for volunteers

6. Q Terrace Talent Show, November (subject to change)

  • Organizer: Melanie

B. Economic Development Working Group – facilitator Christel

Meets 2nd Monday of each month. Next meeting March 11. To be informed of meeting dates, join the Economic Development Group on CSNA site.

1. Community Dinning Out Night (every other month, started in Jan)

  • Organizers: Christel, Carlos
  • Check events calendar for locations

2. Soup Night (every other month, starting in Feb)

  • Organizers: Carlos, Christel
  • Check events calendar for locations

3. Riverfest: A Family Event, May 5

  • Organizers: Lisa, Christel, Carlos, Lee
  • Food, drink, music, QRWA canoes

4. Special Projects

  • Strong Performing Arts Center – progress report
    • Organizer: Lee
    • Working to create a performance arts center in the Strong School building
    • Neighborhood postcard/map – progress report
      • Organizer: Lee, Joy
      • Working to create a neighborhood postcard/map that showcases local businesses and other neighborhood resources

C. Community Service and Development Projects

1. Annual Neighborhood Clean up, March

2. Kids Night at the Mary Wade Home, March date tbd

  • Organizers: Sarah, Joy

3. Fair Haven Family Stroll for Early Childhood Education, May 4, 11-2, Quinnipiac Park

  • Organizer: Amy

4. Mary Wade Home Parade, May 31, 10:30-1:30

  • Organizer: Rufina
  • Starts at Chatham Square Park

5. Chatham Square Festival, September 7, 1-4

  • Organizers: Hope, Lee
  • Check calendar for updates

6. Mary Wade Family Fun Concert, October 6, 1:30-3:30

  • Organizer: Joy

7. End of year potluck, December 18, 6, May Wade Home

  • Organized by group members

8. Beautification of neighborhood entrances

  • Organizers: David, Lee
  • Started conversation with AMR on Middletown Avenue and hope to engage other businesses in beautification of entrances to our neighborhood
  • If interested, contact Lee

 

4. Website and Gmail account

  • Asked all organizers to post activities and events on the website as soon as possible
  • Site administrator Lee will promote all posted events
  • If you bank at START Community Bank, thank the staff for sponsoring our website
  • Neighborhood email account chathamsquareneighborhood@gmail.com; any inquiries about our website or neighborhood activities sent to this email address will be redirected to the person or organization that can best respond.
  • Google Drive account associated with this email address is available to save shared documents. If you have docs and forms that should be a part of neighborhood archive, email them to the gmail account. If you believe you should have access to this drive, contact Lee.
