IMPORTANT Message from the Mayor

Dear New Haven Residents,

We are experiencing some of the highest rates of COVID-19 in New Haven since the start of the pandemic. With the Thanksgiving holiday right around the corner, our strongest advice is that you stay home with your core family group and reduce any exposure to others.
 
We are seeing many indications that people will be travelling over the holidays. We would ask you to reconsider. If you absolutely must travel, please travel by car only with minimal stops to reduce your exposure. Make sure to have plan with family members well before you arrive on how to socially distance, ensure mask wearing, stay in a ventilated area, and so on. If you decide to leave the State, upon your return you must fill out the CT Travel Advisory Form. Visit the State website to see the Governor’s travel advisory requirements and restrictions. If you do not fill out this form, the State can fine you.
 
Again, we do not recommend traveling for the upcoming holiday. Deciding not to gather together with your extended family is not easy. Natalie and I have decided to spend thanksgiving just with our girls, but we’ll zooming in other family members. It’s a hard conversation to have with loved ones, many of whom are feeling isolated, but we all want many more Thanksgivings together. This one is just not worth the risk.
