New Windows at 13 Lewis St.

If you've been down Lewis St. lately you may have noticed the new windows installed at #13.

Until now most of our efforts toward the green and historic renovation of the 1876-built James L. Bassett house have been on the interior: gutting old plaster and lathe and removing partitions that had been added over the years, bolstering or replacing unsound structural members, replacing wiring, duct work, and plumbing.

The new "low-e" windows from Lincoln bring back the two-over-two divided lights the house once had before poor quality vinyl replacements were added during the 80s or 90s. At the same time the new windows will be particularly energy efficient, with a coating that reflects radiant heat and a layer of argon gas between the double glazing.

In the rear we've widened the window and door openings to admit more light and a better view of the Q river. (see three attached pictures below).
