Fair Haven is a Diverse Community with a Rich History and a Beautiful Waterfront
For many residents it has been a long wait to see the start of the Safe Routes to School project. This project is still in process. The city was waiting for an approval from the state DOT, which has finally been granted. We are currently waiting for bids on the project to come back. Richard Miller has indicated, depending on when all bids have been received, the project could start as soon as September, otherwise it may be postponed until the spring. I will post further information as soon as I can.

Reminder: The study that made it possible for the City of New Haven to get this funding was paid for with money rased by local resident in the Chatham Square area with the support of The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven and The City of New Haven. We had one substantial donation from an area resident, $1000 and one resident in particular, Gerda G. raised a few hundred dollars going door-to-door and talking to her neighbors about the importance of traffic calming.
We can't do this work in isolation but there is no rule that says we have to wait for City Hall or anyone from outside to take the lead. It is our neighborhood.
