Power Outage

Good Monring,

I am aware that many residents in our community are still without power, I am working with Sean Matteson and Rob Smuts to get the UI out to those areas.  Pleae let me know of any related situations that need to be addressed.

Clinton Avenue speed humps

Jim Travers was abel to get Richard Miller out to Clinton Avenue to discuss traffic calming measures.  Street humps on Clinton between Pine Street and Grand Avenue will be placed, however an exact date has not been set as of yet. As soon as one has been set I will post that information.

As a long term project, Jim is looking into aquiring the funds necessary to place a center pedestrian island on the wider part of Clinton Avenue, othere options are currently being discussed to follow…

Festival Volunteers Needed--Planning Meeting Cancelled Tonight

The annual festival is going to be even bigger and better this year!  We need volunteers for kids' activities and to welcome community members.  We welcome everyone!

Start Bank awards iPad 2 to Youth@Work savings contest winner

For the first time, participants in the summer jobs program Youth@Work had the chance to sign up for direct deposit and open a savings account at Start Community Bank in their own name, no parent co-signor required.  The account came with an ATM only card with a limited daily withdrawal amount. Every Youth@Work employee, over 500 of them this year, first went through "Loot Camp" where they learned about…

TAG SALE-POSTPONED to Sept 17th

Safe Routes to School

For many residents it has been a long wait to see the start of the Safe Routes to School project.   This project is still in process.   The city was waiting for an approval from the state DOT, which has finally been granted.  We are currently waiting for bids on the project to come back. Richard Miller has indicated, depending on when all bids have been received, the project could start as soon as September, otherwise it may be postponed until the spring.  I will post further information as…

Regrettably, we will be leaving New Haven this fall. We moved here from halfway across the country, decided on Fair Haven without knowing anyone here, and the decision paid off bigtime.
