Chatham Square Association

Fair Haven is a Diverse Community with a Rich History and a Beautiful Waterfront

Let's create a Mill River Trail to connect Fair Haven & East Rock Park

There's a movement afoot to create a trail along the Mill River that would connect East Rock Park and Fair Haven (all the way to Grand Avenue and possibly beyond).  This would be a great addition to our neighborhood and our city; if you agree, please consider voting and/or commenting on the issue via this SeeClickFix post:

Natalie, the meeting on this issue was incredible last evening! I will absolutely go to SeeClickFix to vote, also  check out http://millrivertrail.com/. The trail will be a great way to bring New Haven neighborhoods together, and bring people from outside the area to New Haven and to the river. The economic implications and potential are limitless. We will have created a fun and beautiful destination.

Also very happy to have met you last night. CSNA is a proactive and committed neighborhood association. I feel very proud to be a part of it!

Update: Ben Berkowitz came to the CSNA Economic and Community Development meeting this evening to fill us in on the Mill River Trail project.  Work is already being done to clear brush along some portions of the proposed trail, and what we need now are the following:

1. More people to vote for the issue on SeeClickFix or otherwise make their voices heard in support of the trail

2. Volunteers to clear brush, conduct outreach, etc.

There's a snazzy new Mill River Trail Web site with links for both tasks (click on "Get Involved" at the top) as well as information about the project, maps, photos, and history:

Thanks,

Natalie

Diane, it is the next meeting of the Community & Economic Development Group same time and location as the meeting tonight.

Sorry, new to this where and what time is the December 8th meeting. I can't seem to find it on the calendar.

Sounds great, Lee -- Ben Berkowitz is also going to attend the December 8th meeting to fill us in on the project.

Just to reiterate: Tonight's meeting will be about the Strong School project; the Mill River Trail project will be on the agenda at the December 8th meeting.

Absolutely!

Hey folk: I had an interesting conversation late Friday afternoon with Pamela Soto, graduate student at Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and intern at the Office of City Plan. She has been assigned specifically to work on the Mill River Trail. How about inviting her to the December meeting? Let me know what you think. Lee

Love this idea! We've put it on the agenda for our Dec. Economic Development meeting

Thomas you know I am in! I see this as an amazing opportunity to make New Haven, and specifically Fair Haven a much anticipated and oft visited destination. The Riverfront is of most interest to me personally, but truly all three go hand in glove. I will be there Monday night and am anxious to see more details.
