One more tree in the Neighborhood. (PHOTOS)

A tree was planted on Grafton Street on Tuesday, June 29th afternoon thanks to initiative of Eric Neubauer from Compassion Corps - a new Green Space group organizing the Grafton Street neighbors. Quite a few neighbors and CSNA members showed up to help. It was great to see many little gardeners learning how to plant…

More tree vandalism

This weekend we noticed two newly planted trees at Quinnipiac River Park that have been snapped off. I suggest that we all talk with people who use the park, express concern and outrage, and find out how those trees can be quickly replaced. Any other ideas? That's two of our parks suffering from fatal damage to young trees!

Hundreds Of Seedlings 'Adopted' By Local Green Thumbs at Fair Haven Library Giveaway.

Plants and gardening might not be a first association when one hears "library", but that's what is among several community initiatives of the neighborhood Public Library on Grand Avenue.

A couple dozen of neighbors responded to a call from Fair Haven Library gardening afficionados giving away seedlings of flowers and vegetables on Saturday…

"For now, nobody wants to go to Fair Haven"

“I’d like to see a cruise ship port. In most states with a waterfront like this, there would be a mall and tourist attractions,” Clarke said. “But for now, nobody wants to go to Fair Haven. I hope people will get over the fear factor and come take a look.”… Continue

Fair Haven teens involved in WyldLife

I just wanted to extend a wholehearted thanks to CSNA for your partnership in sending Fair Haven kids to camp this summer.

WyldLife is the middle school program of Young Life, a worldwide non-denominational Christian organization designed to foster relationships between neighborhood teens and adult mentors/role models. We simply send carefully trained and screened adults into the community to be with kids right where they are. Our average… Continue

fighting negative image of our neighborhood

I was really upset by an article in this week's New Haven Advocate (June 3) that describes our neighborhood in a very negative light. The best way to solve our problems is to get more good people to move into this area--and that's not going to happen if our public image is mired in stereotypes. So I sent a letter to the editor (see below). I hope others do the same.

The Issue of traffic, driving, and mature citizens.

Traffic control, specifically speeding, has been a priority for the CSNA. I read with interest an article published in WSJ concerning the issue of mature citizens, their driving abilities, and associated travel expense. I thought this article, which I have attached, might be an interesting resource to the community in relation to our concerns about traffic. This article might also be of interest to those grappling with the issue of driving and aging parents.

I also want…
