Are you eating well? I was poisoning my kids, and didn't know it!

I sent Lee this MSG on FB earlier this week... this is part of a convo that started around supporting school breakfast program....at first blush and admirable cause, then you see what your kid gets....sugary cereals, whole cow's milk, and orange juice.... this may fill the kids bellies for a short while, but it is not going to give real nutrition, in fact those kids are gonna crash, only to be bumped up again at lunch w more starches and sugars and…

More tree vandalism

This weekend we noticed two newly planted trees at Quinnipiac River Park that have been snapped off. I suggest that we all talk with people who use the park, express concern and outrage, and find out how those trees can be quickly replaced. Any other ideas? That's two of our parks suffering from fatal damage to young trees!

fighting negative image of our neighborhood

I was really upset by an article in this week's New Haven Advocate (June 3) that describes our neighborhood in a very negative light. The best way to solve our problems is to get more good people to move into this area--and that's not going to happen if our public image is mired in stereotypes. So I sent a letter to the editor (see below). I hope others do the same.

The Issue of traffic, driving, and mature citizens.

Traffic control, specifically speeding, has been a priority for the CSNA. I read with interest an article published in WSJ concerning the issue of mature citizens, their driving abilities, and associated travel expense. I thought this article, which I have attached, might be an interesting resource to the community in relation to our concerns about traffic. This article might also be of interest to those grappling with the issue of driving and aging parents.

I also want…
