Attn: local artists

What Im looking for is an ongoing professional relationship. Along Grand Ave we are developing a stronger business district. First we need to create a logo that we can brand. "Grand Ave Special Services District", or "welcome to grand ave" something along those lines.
A logo that looks good on banners hanging from lightpoles, websites, newspaper ads etc. then I have several additional districts throughout New Haven. But 1 at a time

Shop Local with the Mayor coming to Fair Haven!

As part of her effort to promote the diverse selection of stores and shops that New Haven offers, the Mayor this fall has been visiting a different neighborhood each week as part of her “Shop Local with the Mayor” initiative.  This initiative seeks to leverage her office’s public profile to highlight for the media and public locally-owned small business retailer(s) and food vendors/restaurateurs throughout the city.

Let's create a Mill River Trail to connect Fair Haven & East Rock Park

There's a movement afoot to create a trail along the Mill River that would connect East Rock Park and Fair Haven (all the way to Grand Avenue and possibly beyond).  This would be a great addition to our neighborhood and our city; if you agree, please consider voting and/or commenting on the issue via this SeeClickFix post:

Thanks,

Important Opportunity to Help Plan for our Neighborhood this coming Weekend

Dear Neighbors:

Mayor Harp has placed a high priority on economically reinvigorating New Haven’s neighborhoods.  This past winter, she invited consultants from the CT Main Street Center to meet with businesses, community groups, political leaders, and ordinary citizens throughout the city to assess our ability to launch our own “Main Street” commercial revitalization program.  Thanks to the efforts many people in our community, the consultants gained a thorough perspective on the…

• Teach children to make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of them.

Garbage Day

This idea is in the works. I was contacted by Robert Fecke who is a long time resident of the neighborhood and business owner of Reclamation Lumber on Grand Avenue. Like myself, Mr. Fecke is overwhelmed with the amount of litter accumulated at various sites in Fair Haven. In fact, he is so fed up with it he has volunteered 2 workers, 1 vehicle and supplies toward the clean-up effort. We dont want to hit one spot one time, what we want to do is clean up several different locations on a recurring… Continue

Chess Club Volunteers

Hi all! I am looking to start a chess club at the Fair Haven library for kids/tweens. We have had some interest and currently have a group of kids that come in to play every afternoon. I am putting a call out to anyone who has the time, interest, and skills to teach the kids that would come to the club. I haven't set up any time or days yet, so I could definitely work that out with anyone who would be interested.

Please feel free to contact me either at sandra@nhfpl.org or at…

Exchange St. Revival Continues: Way to go Tom, Tywanna and Abby - building community one block at a time

As a boy, Thomas Burwell always looked forward to the July 4 block party on his street in Fair Haven. More than two decades after the last such party was held, Burwell decided to convert nostalgia into action.

Burwell, now the Ward 14 Democratic committee co-chair and and a former candidate for Alder, reconvened the annual Exchange Street block party, on a historic residential block behind the Fair Haven School.

The second year of the revived block party kicked off Saturday,…
